The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has switched away from the Nixle notification system, and instead is now utilizing Smart911.  The Sheriff’s office is encouraging all residents to create an account.  click here for information flyer from Boone Co Sheriff

When creating an account, you will be asked to share personal information that might potentially  be of use to emergency responders depending upon your circumstances.  You are free to add as much or as little information as desired.  Whatever information that you do share will only be available to emergency responders once you would actually dial 911.   The personal information is stored in a secure database that is not accessible until a 911 call has been placed.

In addition to the enhanced 911 call, a Smart911 account allows you to receive a variety of notifications of your choice – you will be able to select between things such as school closings, traffic information, weather alerts, etc.   Again, all residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free service to help stay connected and enhance their safety when calling 911.  sign up today
